Utilizing electronic field tools to capture information at the work face and support ongoing operational and maintenance processes can have a significant impact on the efficiency of executing tasks in the field. Further, driving the data from the field into web-based reporting applications allows us to analyze trends in operations and can reveal significant opportunities for improvement.
Electronic field tools simplify the communication of information to and from the field, which allows lessons learned to be communicated and imbedded at the work face. Leveraging technology to capture the information and utilizing online reporting to trend compliance, positive behaviours are reinforced and negative behaviours can be identified and corrected quickly, reducing rework and improving process compliance. Identified process improvement opportunities can be driven through the organization using the same technology, creating a learning organization.
